My Philosophy

Teaching

My Philosophy of Art Education is that Art and its creation is an integral part of all aspects of society.
Art education should initially focus on students ideas because their experiences must be valued
and built upon. In this way, art lessons will be not only successful, but relevant. Art education
encourages the ability to value oneself and others, and to approach the world with a desire to
Understand. I believe it is not my role to so much teach the creation of art but rather to teach both the access to and path towards the practicality of being an artist. Concrete examples of artistic creation permeate every aspect of society including but not limited to advertising, film, fashion, graphic design, product design, architecture, aerospace, marketing and many more. It is my goal to facilitate students successful navigation through these avenues. I also want to encourage students to express their feelings through cathartic artistic means. Creating works of art from personal experience is an important pathway to creating art that is both meaningful and lasting.
